Kent Island, Maryland
Jim Dean grew up in northwest New Jersey on a glacier lake where he spent every summer sailing, canoeing, and making boats out of anything that floated. In his 20’s, Jim’s family purchased a 42’ Post that took his boating adventures to the next level cruising & fishing out of Manasquan Inlet. After graduating from Centenary University in 1992, he took a corporate job with Bell Atlantic Mobile in New Jersey that presented him with the opportunity to transfer their Annapolis location. After being introduced to the Chesapeake Bay boating scene, he immediately purchased his own boat to explore the Bay and find respite from the 10 years-to-follow fighting Beltway traffic all week selling for Bell Atlantic Mobile, MCI, Quest, Microsoft, and Net App.
In 2006, Jim decided to make his dream of starting his own company and spending more time with his family a reality; So, he combined his love of boats, sales and service to create Dean’s Yacht Services, Inc. – a full-service boat and yacht maintenance company in the Annapolis and surrounding area. Successfully passing along his belief that personal leadership and involvement get things done in exceptional ways, Jim’s family is now capably running Dean’s so he can take his passion for boating to the ultimate level of helping others to enjoy the water as well.
While serving so many of his Dean’s customer’s service needs, Jim still felt that he was missing the ability to help them purchase and sell vessels. So, in 2016 and after 11 years of serving Bluewater Yacht Sales’s maintenance needs all along the East Coast, Jim decided that Bluewater was the perfect operation to fill this void. Sharing the same ethos of service first, sales second, and always impressed with the company’s professionalism, it was a natural step to join forces with Bluewater. Jim is excited about bringing this additional value to his existing customers today and new ones in the future.
Jim, his wife, three boys, a dog and a cat live on Kent Island. They keep busy with sports on the weekends, but always make time to get out on the water – whether it’s to go surf fishing on Assateague Island or skiing on the frozen stuff in the winter – They always look forward to being home on Kent Island and the boating lifestyle that goes along with it.
