A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Matt is a fourth generation captain who was raised in the marine industry, and has a lifelong passion for being on the water. He got his start in the boat business when he was just 16 years old, when he started running a forklift for a local service facility. Since then, Matt has gained over 13 years of maritime experience, and has worked in nearly every part of the business. He has been hired to mate in over 75 Blue Marlin Tournaments, both commercially and privately, which has given him a thorough knowledge of sportfishing. More recently, Matt has performed over 200 new boat deliveries, has trained young adults in safe boating and fishing, and has worked to maintain dozens of boats in the Wrightsville Beach area.
In addition to his work experience, Matt is also highly educated in marine navigation, having completed both the Chapman School of Seamanship and Professional Mariner training. He has over 400 hours of training in seamanship, rules of the road, marlinspike, weather, first aid, boat handling, piloting, dead reckoning, electronic navigation and boat and engine maintenance.
Matt’s diverse professional experience and in-depth technical training has given him the unique ability to provide customers with the knowledge and experience needed to give them the lifestyle that they are looking for. He believes in educating his customers so that they are completely confident with their decisions before moving into purchases. He is remarkably patient and will walk buyers and sellers through the sales process at a speed that makes them the most comfortable. Matt is excited to be a part of the Bluewater Yacht Sales family and is looking forward to earning your trust.
