OnBoard Magazine - Issue XII - 2020 Season

Surely, all the historical rollover methods have taken a great amount of coordination, skill and intestinal fortitude by the crew and its individual equipment operators. But now, with 30 years of experience and ingenuity under their belts, the pros at Jarrett Bay are broadcasting master classes—controlled by Travelift joysticks and enjoyed the world over by their adoring fans—thanks to the company’s live webcam streams and social media videos. While many of the traditional, stalwart construction methods still apply, those jigs we mentioned are now engineered with computer-aided drafting techniques and then precision-cut by an on-site CNC router. These ‘DownEast’ folks sure have adapted quickly since the days of lofting fir stems on a cold dirt floor. NO DETAIL TOO SMALL Scott Young is another testament to the philosophy that seeps from every pore of the Jarrett Bay complex. "The best part of my job is that even after 20 years, it never gets dull. Every single day presents a new challenge and an opportunity to learn something new," he observes. A more unique voice complementing Jarrett Bay’s workforce is Foreman RV Hodge. A modern-day Renaissance Man if you will, Hodge not only oversees a new construction team at Jarrett Bay by day, but by night publishes fantastical children’s books and also constructs boats for religious missions in his free time. Recently, RV’s role at Jarrett Bay has expanded to serve as the social media host for the company’s popular “Jarrett Bay Insider” video series. Topics include explaining the nuances of underwater exhausts and pump rooms, to showing off the beautiful finish work of Jarrett Bay’s latest launch or service project. While also walking down Jarrett Bay’s historical lane, Hodge regales the company’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube followers on a monthly basis with interesting factoids and valuable insight. The response has been resolute—the fans want more—longer episodes on a wider variety of projects. While surrendering to social media may feel like an exercise in vanity to this band of otherwise introverted shipwrights, the public demand validates their amazing level of craftsmanship, thoughtfulness and expertise. Undoubtedly, a tremendous level of experience and know-how goes into every new construction and service project at Jarrett Bay—far more than we might be able to sufficiently convey. Jarrett Bay’s award- winning results should more than speak for themselves, and commissioning these highly accomplished experts to oversee your next project would surely be a wise investment! 84’ CONVERTIBLE Hull #60: Reel Development 68’ CONVERTIBLE Hull #64: Project Caribbean IN-PROGRESS CUSTOM BUILDS AT JARRETT BAY 64’ CONVERTIBLE Hull #65 67’ CONVERTIBLE Hull #66: Sea Wish 56’ CONVERTIBLE Hull #67: Renegade 33 2020 SEASON
